Though the season-opening NASCAR Sprint Cup event garners most of the attention - as well as the largest audience in motorsports - the enormous 480-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title of "World Center of Racing."

More About The Speedway

Ever since opening in 1959, the Daytona International Speedway, located in Daytona, Florida, has been hosting some of the top racing competitions in the world. With a capacity of over 167,000, the Speedway is home to arguably the most prestigious event in NASCAR, the Daytona 500. Thanks to it’s transformational properties, this facility is also home to a variety of other competitions, spanning from AMA Superbike and Motocross to Grand-Am and ARCA.

It was William France Sr, the founder of NASCAR, who first began planning for this track as a way to promote the sport in 1953. He teamed up with a local engineer by the name of Charles Moneypenney. The goal was to produce a track that had the highest banking possible to not only allow for higher speeds, but to also give fans a great view of the cars.

There is no wonder why Daytona is a favorite among racing fanatics. Thanks to the combination of the Sprint Fanzone and the Budweiser Party Porch, fans are treated to a whole new level of entertainment. The Fanzone offers viewers a chance to keep an eye on track and garage activity as enthusiasts are able to walk along the "fandeck" which is situated on top of the garages. An interactive fan area, which includes a go-kart track and amusement rides, is combined with an open area for eating, drinking and viewing the race, making the Party Porch a fun alternative to the grandstand seating.

With plenty of great lodging options near the Speedway, it is only a short walk away for many. If you find yourself driving to an event, rest assured that there is free parking and a shuttle on Clyde Morris Blvd. as well as on Bellevue Extension West.

For those truly interested in what makes this track tick, there are a number of tours available that offer a close examination of Daytona´s past, present, and future. The Daytona International Speedway has rightfully earned it’s nickname of "The World Center of Racing" thanks to it’s dedication to a vast array of racing sports and an unbeatable fan experience.
